143 | mar io – twilight of ages remixes

Während Mar io’s Twilight of Ages-EP eskapistischen Rave-Sound nur noch als Reminiszenz und Nachhall in der Ferne aufnahm, um sich voll und ganz dem Sound der 90er-Jahre Blütezeit von athmosphärischem Ambient und Elektronika zu verschreiben, schlagen die sieben neuen ToA-Remixes nun wieder den direkteren Weg in den Club ein. Das Wort Remix greift hier aber zu kurz, versteht sich die EP doch eher als eine Art Spin-Off, das Inspiration aus verschiedenen Spuren von ToA zieht und daraus gänzlich neue Werke kreiert. Während die Stimmung auf allen Tracks die ambiente Atmosphäre des Ausgangsmaterials aufnimmt, hält mit der geraden Bassdrum auch ein gewisser Drang auf den Dancefloor Einzug. Das tritt besonders bei Cies marschierendem Beitrag (A Part of Future & Space) oder der sehr oldschooligen ToA-Interpretation von modul808 zu Tage, die sich ganz in die Tradition von 90er-Jahre Deep House stellt. IO-Labelbetreiberin Lindsay Wang aka Polygonia, Dan Watts aus Bristol aka Fractal Architect und der Rheinländer Harada, der sonst z.B. auf Trapez, Traum oder Paso zuhause ist, nehmen ebenfalls die warme Deepness des Ausgangsmaterials auf, driften damit aber entspannt in reduziert trancige Dancefloor-Gefilde, während Marie Wilhelmine Anders/MWA es schafft, uptempo Beats mit Pianotupfern und viel Athmosphäre zu einem Ambient-Dancefloor-Hybrid zu verarbeiten. Mar io selbst beschließt die EP mit einem Beitrag, der sich noch am stärksten am Space Night-esken Sound des Originals orientiert und damit bereits große Lust auf seine nächste EP macht.
