Having already attracted quite some attention with his releases under\u00a0the Idealist moniker, most notably with his last Broque EP „Defective\u00a0Units“, this very EP now also serves as naming patron to kickstart\u00a0Bernhard Gietz‘ new project. That seems just consequent given the unique\u00a0and coherent sound of this EP and not least its sweeping success. As\u00a0Defective Units, the Zurich-based producer now presents us with five\u00a0wonderful tracks which pick up the old school character of his previous\u00a0Broque EP and bring its sound to its full potential. Old school in this\u00a0context means above all traditional string-driven house music in\u00a0between deep house and Chicago roughness. Most importantly, Berni’s love\u00a0of analogue machines in general and the TB-303 in particular shines\u00a0through each and every track, where acid lines seem to surface and\u00a0disappear as we listen and help the tracks to the level of funkyness and\u00a0character which is so distinctive for the Defective Units sound. Five\u00a0incredibly charming „Sequences“ which leave no question unanswered and\u00a0make us wonder if „Sequences“ might eventually become Bernhards next\u00a0project alias.<\/p>\n
