Auf Marie Wilhelmine Anders großartigem Album „Travels“ (Broque 136) überraschte „Fire“ bereits mit einem hybriden Sound, der sich zwischen Drum & Bass und Techno bewegt. Ein Track, der so voller Facetten ist, dass Marie es spannend fand, ihn für Remixe aus der Drum & Bass Szene aus der Hand zu geben. Dafür konnte Marie Producer gewinnen, die, wie sie selbst – z.B. auf ihrem letzten Album „Frozen Music“ (Broque 148) – einen DnB Sound kreieren, der sich stark an die Zeit der ausgehenden 90er anlehnt, als sich ambiente Spielarten und Techstep die Klinke in die Hand gaben. 88 Katanas und Offish arbeiten insbesondere die Techstep-Seite des Tracks heraus, mit einem industriell anmutenden DnB-Sound, der den Vorreitern des Sounds wie Ed Rush und Optical ein monumentales Denkmal setzt. Illuvia als auch Art Cuebik gehen es etwas atmosphärischer an und orientieren sich eher an der LTJ Bukem-Seite des Spät-90er-DnB, der das Kunststück fertigbrachte, energetische Beats mit ambienter Grundstimmung zu kombinieren und damit sowohl auf dem Mainfloor als auch im Chillout zu funktionieren. Gemeinsam mit dem Original loten die vier Remixe mit viel Empathie und Liebe fürs Detail das DnB-Potential von „Fire“ aus und verschmelzen zu einer wunderbar kohärenten EP, die sowohl nach vorne als auch respektvoll in die Vergangenheit schaut.
