On his third EP on Broque, Stefan Schultz (alias Juno6) merges his musical influences and roots – ranging from Boards of Canada to the likes of Ricardo Villalobos and Jeff Mills – in the most direct and stunning way so far. Stefan is no stranger for most: his releases on Freude am Tanzen, Cargo Edition or Liebe*Detail gained a lot of attention as did his label “Oh!Yeah!” which he runs jointly with Sven Tasnadi and Daniel Stefanik. His new EP on Broque features five new, analogue electronic gems, which are only occasionally grounded on the dancefloor and wander off the beaten track to open up truly mind-bending perspectives. Techno history, personal reference points and state of the art sounds, are all melted into very unique and magical tracks. “Devils from Darkonia” clearly doesn’t need to adopt established dancefloor stereotypes but simply scores with original personality and character. The five tales on this EP could easily fill entire club nights, but for the moment, we are simply immensely grateful about this fantastic EP.

Broque’s latest discovery goes by the name of Jérôme Fouqueray, obviously is from France, and (heads-up: stereotype alert!) as such was inspired strongly by the legends of French electronic music. While Jean Michel Jarre and Jérôme’s Casio keyboard were the key sources of inspiration at the age of seven, they were replaced soon by the likes of Laurent Garnier or Agoria. Rooted in his DJ-ing experiences, one can hear very well in his tracks that he has a thing for classic Techno and likes to reprocess his personal history of Techno. Similar to his tracks for Cascabel or Verboten (both from France), his new EP for Broque “Without Understanding” is grounded in the heart of the Techno universe and wallows in darkly oscillating tales of nights on the dancefloor (“Without Understanding”, “Cold Wonderment”), while “Légère Addiction“ feasts on old memories of endorphin-soaked sun rises at after hours of the past. Juno 6 and Alec Troniq rework the tracks in their very own style and close this well-balanced and inspiring EP on Broque.

Nope, ‘Yesterday you said tomorrow’ is not at all a reference to the delayed release of this EP. In fact, Stefan Tretau is a very welcome guest not only on Broque. With several releases on Fortek, NightDriveMusic or Sounderground, Stefan has proven his skills more than
once and gathered a wealth of positive feedback already. His new EP comes with seven versatile gems of brilliant electronic music: ranging from swinging Dub House, chord- and stab-driven cut-up-variants to balearic downbeats. The Ruhr Area-inhabitant tells a story of his very own musical voyage, that started sometime in the 90s in Mühlheim a.d. Ruhr. And one thing is for sure: this journey is far from over just after these fresh new ideas and tracks of his latest EP on Broque.

After a very busy first half of 2011 we were planning to be on a well-earned summer break already. Apparently, we did not take into account these insomniacs who decide spontaneously to have other ideas. Like Max Cavalerra, who – thanks to his wife – digged out an ages old hard drive. On plugging in, some old but beautiful germs surfaced which otherwise were destined to be buried in oblivion. Immediately, we found ourselves in a world of synth melodies and sine waves which couldn’t be more exciting, even after seven years. But raving is timeless anyway, in particular when the summer is just about to start. Kudos also to Al Conti for the Spanish translation of the track titles. With this fantastic and original EP, we are sure that we will make it into a summer break, eventually.

Ganz sicher.

Munich-based Dirk Lamprecht is not just longtime friend of the Broque family but also well known through his DML-releases on Harthouse, Kailash or his own Gruenfeld label. Therefore, we are even more proud to present his “Munique EP” now on Broque. Here, five terrific new dub techno epics take the time they need and, over an overall play time of more than 40 exciting minutes, live out their very original symbiosis of Basic Channel/Burial Mix retrospection and contemporary Dub Techno sounds as they are most well-known from labels such as Modern Love. Thereby some true floor fillers emerge, such as the dark grooving and delay-laden killer tracks “Freimann”, “Forstenried”, and “Neuperlach” which are likely to become regular dancefloor occurrences in the future. In addition, the EP sports atmospheric and drifting dub tracks with more of a roots dub character (“Sendling I”, “Sendling II”). Inspired by field recordings in the Bavarian city of Munich, the track titles just underline that Dirks hypnotic Dub Techno effortlessly finds a balance between tradition and modernity.
