In the beginning – quite some time ago – was the guitar. Heiko Schwanz started playing in a band with 2 school mates in the Thuringian countryside. But there were no gigs or other success stories. That changed after also programming beats on the computer to accompany his guitar. By and by his music evolved between Ambient, Deep House and Techno and he gathered experiences from numerous live gigs on the dancefloor, but also in Chill Out areas. He released records on the R.A.N.D. label 3b and Polyfon, founded the label Broque.de together with Christian Kausch aka Tend, produced more releases and he is also part of the mutual project Garry Grand. Since quite some time he is now living in the idyllic Bavarian countryside surrounding Munich, door to door with a rockband.

Max’s gained musical influence by his artistic familyvery early. He played the drums in the age of 7 andstopped with 13, same on the piano. Inspired byNetherlands hardcore techno scene he listened tohis first electronic sounds and began directly to spinthat sound on vinyl. By and by Max discovered allkinds of electronic music until he was listening anddancing to a DJ Set of Sven Vaeth, which turnedover the switch in the age of 15. Now it was over.Max went crazy because Sven played exactly hisimagination of electronic music. After a few gigs inand around Munich, Max learned to handlesynthesizers and all what’s around. His first record(co produced by Oliver Morgenroth) came out whenhe was in the age of 18. From that time every step inhis life seemed to be planed. He learned in the”Music Shop” and sold professional soft- andhardware stuff, after that he sold records in the”Parasound” record store and then he was a veryimportant part of the “Electric Delicate” office.Nowadays he’s 29 and can look back into a scale ofgigs, releases, albums and remixes. Also he’s a DJyou can’t hide from. He was resident DJ of Munich’smost famous techno night called “Electric Delicate”and he’s one of the less who plays the whole nightand not under 8 – 10 hours. Last thing to say is hisown declaration: “I love to play as long as I can, toevolve the full strength and mystery of electronicmusic!”

In his own way Tend only continues the family tradition. Through the equipment taken out of his father, such as old records, tapes and tape recorders, he already learned DJing as a small boy. Born in Eisenach/Thuringia, he was already infected by electronic music before the fall of the wall. Stimulated by the general progressive atmosphere in Germany, he started to organize his first parties in 1993/94 in very unique locations as for example in an old arch or later on even in factories or real street tunnels. With his “Oder auf Brot”-Posse he plays all over Thuringia and of course beyond that. He is responsible for the Fanzine „Oder auf Brot “, which exists since 1994 and developed to a little cult. Apart from organizing events, him and his partner Granlab are taking care of the label Broque.de, which belongs to the most successful ones in the German internet, with their mp3-releases (#2 De:Bug reader’s poll Charts 2009 / #13 Groove reader’s poll Charts 2008). Meanwhile he also started his own vinylseries which was distributed by Kompakt. As if it were not enough he is also writing for different music magazines. His own sound spreads in all directions somewhere between groovy house and progressive Techno. It fits as much in elevators as in huge dancehalls.
